Democrats Involved In Insurance Fraud?

From ABC News: The Democratic National Convention may be long over, but its organizers have not forgotten the almost half a million dollars worth of electronics they seem to have lost.
Organizers of the Charlotte, N.C., convention have filed a police report for lost and stolen electronics, some of which they appear to have valued at as much as 62 times the listed market prices.
A reportedly stolen 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop? $75,537. The price listed on the Apple website is $1,199. A lost iPhone? $30,503. A lost Blackberry? $54,250.
The DNC did not respond to a request for comment.
Calls to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for elaboration on the report were not returned.
Other items reported to have gone missing at the convention included two iPads worth around $15,000 each, laptops listed at $40,000, $34,000 and $25,000 each, and other miscellaneous items worth far more than their list price.
The report claimed that 40 items were reported lost and one item – the most highly valued one, the $75,000 MacBook Pro – was stolen.
The apparently inflated prices were reported in May with the Charlotte Police Department by Kenneth Hardy, deputy in-house counsel for the Democratic National Convention Committee, on behalf of the DNCC Host Committee.  http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/06/democratic-convention-organizers-inflate-prices-of-lost-electronics-claim-500k/
Probably reporting some reporting "Obamaphones" missing as well.
Do Democrats have no shame that they have to resort to felony insurance fraud?
Of course not, they are the party of give "mine, mine", like these fine feathered birds:

Jail Food Update:Commissioners Paid Off

In the previous post, I thought it was strange that Aramark lost a bid by several hundred thousand dollars to New Era and I wondered if any of the commissioners were paid off.
Well, looky here, some did.
Steve Sisolak received $2500 from Aramark on 12/27/2012 according to Sisolak's filing with the NV Secretary of State  http://nvsos.gov/SOSCandidateServices/AnonymousAccess/ViewCCEReport.aspx?syn=3zIihw7FC6%252bbrhdPvpSadg%253d%253d
Tom Collins: $2500 from Aramark on 11/5/2012: http://nvsos.gov/SOSCandidateServices/AnonymousAccess/ViewCCEReport.aspx?syn=5XnJQ25im9Wfe3qHIWjVGQ%253d%253d
Larry Brown:  $2500 On 11/7/2012: http://nvsos.gov/SOSCandidateServices/AnonymousAccess/ViewCCEReport.aspx?syn=5w9iSZ8QXHD2Jc1seWF8dw%253d%253d

Not sure if the links, but just go to the Nevada Secretary of State and look up political contributions.
Yep, Aramark bought and paid for their new contract with these three thieves on the Clark County commission.

Clark County Commissioners Show Their Stupidity... Again

I wonder how much Stevie Sisolak got paid?  Lawrence brown- how much was he paid off?  Suzy Braeger, how much were you paid?  Tom Collins, well,he is a very studpid fellow, so he didn't need to be paid off.
But one wonders why a food service contract was given to a higher bidder even the lower bidder met all the qualifications of the contract.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Competition and controversy were on the menu Tuesday when Clark County commissioners awarded a lucrative contract to provide meals at two of its jails to a more experienced – but more expensive – company.
The issue: Commissioners needed to chose a vendor to provide food services for inmates at Clark County Detention Center and the North Valley Complex.
The vote: Commissioners voted 5-2 to award the contract to Aramark Correctional Services, with Commissioners Chris Giunchigliani and Lawrence Weekly opposed.
What it means: Aramark will keep the contract it’s had since 2006 to provide about 11,000 daily meals at two county jails, even though staff recommended commissioners go with a cheaper alternative.
California-based New Era Foods submitted the lowest bid for the contract at $4.7 million annually, among the key criteria staff considered when recommending vendors.
But Aramark, which had the second lowest bid at $5 million per year, filed a protest with the county arguing that New Era Foods lacked the experience necessary to adequately do the job because the 5-year-old company doesn’t have any other jail contracts.
Read more: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jun/18/commission-picks-experience-over-price-selecting-j/#ixzz2We3aI2FU
But New Era has experience in other stressful areas:
New Era Foods president James Davis made a passionate case to commissioners, pointing to other demanding contracts the company is serving, including one for a number of schools in Los Angeles.
Although the company’s experience in correctional settings is limited to one 10-month contract with a jail in California, it has hired several administrators with the necessary background, including some who previously worked for Aramark at the Clark County Detention Center, Davis said.
“We won the bid and I went and got the best talent,” Davis said. “We did this the right way. We came here. We bid on this. We were the low bidder. We’ve proven responsible … they’re trying to bully us out of a contract we won the right way.”
What's the point of putting out of bids if the commissioners are going to make the rules along the way, especially if they are paid off to rig a contract.
Hopefully the FBI will be looking into this.

Cool Picture: Tornado At Denver Airport

No damage and no injuries.

A Silly Question

Since the NSA has been exposed spying on all Internet, e-mail and phone usage in the United States, they have claimed they have broken up about 50 times.

So, why hasn't anybody been charged?

Like in this case: Disclosing new details, a top FBI official claimed the surveillance efforts helped disrupt a plot to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. FBI Deputy Director Sean Joyce said NSA officials discovered the scheme while monitoring a known extremist in Yemen, who was in contact with an individual in the U.S. After initiating surveillance, Joyce said, they were able to detect "nascent plotting" to bomb the stock exchange and ultimately disrupt the plot.

Silly question indeed.

Oh Yeah, The NBA Is Rigged

The NBA Championship series just ended and without a doubt, the referees are in the pocket of the NBA and ABC to cause a game 7.
In the last shots the San Antonio Spurs took, they were mugged, hacked and probably raped by the players of the Miami Heat and the ref's didn't man up and call the foul.
I've totally lost respect for the NBA and it is because of this.
Clearly, ABC and the NBA wanted a 7th game and they got it by cheating the Spurs.
The referees in the NBA are about 2 steps below the WWE referees. when it comes to integrity.
Oh, and I don't have a dog in the fight.  I like and dislike both of the teams.
Update, here is the first mugging:

Sad: Bethesda Lutheran Home Closing

Bethesda Lutheran Home is a institution for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities and it is the place where I got my first real job after I graduated from high school.
From jsonline: The Bethesda Lutheran Communities Intermediate Care Facility, which provides care for 73 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Watertown, will close Aug. 31, 2014, the facility announced Tuesday.
The state will oversee a transition plan that will help the residents and their families and guardians find new residences. Relocation meetings will begin in July 2013 and continue until all of the current residents have moved to new homes.
People now living at the facility will have the option of remaining in Watertown in community homes, apartments and duplexes, with Bethesda Lutheran Communities continuing to oversee their care
"This process isn't new to Bethesda," Gretchen Block, regional director of Bethesda's North Central region, said in a statement. "We've supported hundreds of people over the years to find homes closer to family, while better connecting individuals to community resources and neighbors."
Roughly 660 people lived at the Bethesda Lutheran Communities Intermediate Care Facility at its peak, before people began moving to group homes in the communities, said Laura Reilly, vice president of marketing and communities.
It was founded 1904.
Bethesda provides community-based residential services, employment and other services to almost 1,800 people and spiritual support and services for almost 5,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 13 states.  http://www.jsonline.com/business/bethesda-lutheran-facility-in-watertown-to-close-in-2014-b9937083z1-212054561.html
When I applied for the job, I had no idea about people with severe disabilities because at the time, the people with severe disabilities were not allowed in regular schools- they were placed in special schools, schooled at home or put in institutions, like Bethesda or state facilities.
Despite being peed on by a resident on my first day working with the residents, I loved the job and it eventually led me to become a Special Education teacher, working with kids with severe disabilities.

Nevada Teacher Training: D-.

The National Council on Teacher Quality has graded colleges that educate potential throughout the United States and Nevada fares... well we suck in putting out quality teachers.
According to the NCTQ, UNLV rates a 1 star out of 4 in 2 categories (Undergraduate and graduate elementary school programs) and rates no stars in Graduate secondary and graduate Special Education.  http://www.nctq.org/teacherPrep/findings/stateFindings.do?state=NV#institutions
The school I graduated from, U.W. Madison, had an average of 2 stars, which is hard to believe since they had so many crackpots on the staff.
There were only 3 programs with a perfect 4 star rating and two of them are in Tennessee.
So, when you get no stars in your program, like at UNLV, obviously, you are not doing very well.
And we wonder why kids these days are not so smart and bright.
I think this teacher went to UNLV:

Great And The Olympics Will Be Held There in 2016

From the Denver Post: In some of the biggest protests since the end of Brazil's 1964-85 dictatorship, demonstrations have spread across this continent-sized country and united people from all walks of life behind frustrations over poor transportation, health services, education and security despite a heavy tax burden.
More than 100,000 people were in the streets Monday for largely peaceful protests in at least eight big cities. They were in large part motivated by widespread images of Sao Paulo police last week beating demonstrators and firing rubber bullets into groups during a march that drew 5,000. There was some violence, with police and protesters clashing in Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte. The newspaper O Globo, citing Rio state security officials, said at least 20 officers and 10 protesters were injured there. Monday's protests come after the opening matches of soccer's Confederations Cup over the weekend, just one month before a papal visit, a year before the World Cup and three years ahead of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The unrest is raising some security concerns, especially after the earlier protests produced injury-causing clashes with police. In Sao Paulo, Brazil's economic hub, at least 65,000 protesters gathered Monday at a small, treeless plaza then broke into three directions in a Carnival atmosphere, with drummers beating out samba rhythms as people chanted anti-corruption jingles. They also railed against the matter that sparked the first protests last week—a 10-cent hike in bus and subway fares.

It's not to late to pull the Olympics from Brazil and move them to another city that can handle the Olympics- Like Los Angles, London, Chicago, New York etc.
Brazil is not ready for prime time for the Olympics and they need to be moved.

I Hope She Wins

From the New York Daily News:
She asked for paper - but all they offered was plastic.
A Pennsylvania woman is now suing the McDonald's franchise that refused to pay her by check and instead insisted on employees using payroll debit cards.
I'm looking for the pay I am owed and for them to understand there has to be an option," Natalie Gunshannon, 27, told the Citizen's Voice newspaper.
Gunshannon worked less than a month at the Shavertown McDonald's location when she learned that the franchise required employees to accept payment on a J.P. Morgan Chase payroll card. But the card, she contends, imposes fees on virtually every transaction, creating a monetary and physical barrier to her hard-earned cash. Among the costs, according to her lawsuit: $1.50 for an ATM withdrawal, $5 for over-the-counter cash withdrawals and $1 to check the balance. There's even a charge to pay a bill online or if the card is lost or stolen.
"When they work hard and earn their wages, why should they have to pay fees to collect their rightful wages?" her attorney, Mike Cefalo, told the Wilkes Barre Times-Leader.
Gunshannon, a single mother, made $7.44 an hour during her three weeks at the fast-food chain. Minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Coupled with the fees, Gunshannon says she was not making enough money. And when she asked to be paid another way, the franchise's owner allegedly told her the card was the only option.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/mcdonald-owners-sued-wage-debit-card-article-1.1375287#ixzz2WY9Gxmib
The McDonalds in question should have had least another option- a paper check or direct deposit.
Wal-Mart does pay on a debit card, but there are no fees for using it.
But to use a bank that charges you for using it, with no other options is just plain wrong and the employees involved don't make a lot of money to begin with.
So, I do hope the owners decide to use an alternate- a paper check or direct deposit besides the debit card and let the employee choose which they want to use.
Otherwise, I hope the owners lose big time in court.

And Yet Maher And Bill Handel Still Have Jobs

Bill Handel.jpg
Handel: Thinks it's cool to pick on disabled children
From the San Fran Chronicle: The cast of an Atlanta sports radio show has been fired after mocking a former NFL player who has Lou Gehrig's disease, a station official said Monday.
The show, Mayhem in the AM, was broadcast on 790 The Zone Monday morning. In a statement, General Manager Rick Mack said the station regrets comments made about ex-New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason.
The 36-year-old suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ALS patients lose the ability to speak and move, which has happened to Gleason.
The station lists the hosts as Nick Cellini, Steak Shapiro and Chris Dimino. But Mack didn't give the names of those fired.
During the segment, two of the on-air personalities took a call from a third host who pretended to be Gleason by using a voice that sounded automated — mimicking another famous ALS patient, Stephen Hawking.
The host pretending to be Gleason told a series of jokes and eventually asked the two others to do him a favor by smothering him.  http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/Ga-radio-hosts-fired-mocked-ex-player-with-ALS-4605913.php
Bill Maher, the unfunny "man" picks on children with Down Syndrome.
And Bill Handel of Handel on the Law talk show mocks kids with Angelman's Syndrome and kids with intellectual disabilities.
And these two idiots haven't been fired.  Maybe Maher is popular with the left and Handel, probably no one has heard of him or listen to his show, so no one was around to complain.
I guess it makes these two "men" feel manly because they pick on disabled children.

Obamaville: 8 More Shot On A Monday

After 46 people were shot during the weekend, the Obamaville shooters continued on Monday with 8 more people shot.
From the Chicago Tribune: At least eight people have been shot today on the South and West Sides, authorities said.
The first person shot, described only as an adult male, was wounded at 1:13 p.m. in the 11000 block of South Ashland Avenue in the city's Morgan Park neighborhood, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.
The man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, according to Chicago Fire Department Chief Juan Hernandez.   http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-2-shootings-reported-on-south-side-20130617,0,6999487.story
I think the Las Vegas oddsmakers ought to set the over/under for the number of people shot in Chicago.  Maybe 2500 shooting victims for the year?
This doesn't even include those shooters who are bad shots and miss their targets.
Only in Obamaville.

Finally, Some Common Sense In Nevada Education

From the LVRJ:
He wore the cap and gown.
He walked the stage.
He exchanged a handshake for a diploma case.
Rondo Steven Wright was even listed as a diploma candidate in the graduation program, just like everyone else. But Wright didn’t receive a diploma from the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts on Wednesday.
In its place, a certificate of attendance.
“That’s for people who just showed up,” said Wright, frustrated because he passed the required courses and the state-mandated high school proficiency exams in reading, science and math on his first attempts.
He wasn’t able to pass the writing test, but thought he would at least get an adjusted diploma.
The state requires — or required up until two Mondays ago — that students pass all four exams to earn a diploma. The certificate goes to students who meet credit requirements for graduation but fail one or more sections of the proficiency exams.
Although it doesn’t change Wright’s situation, the four proficiency exams are being phased out. The Nevada Legislature decided two days before the school year ended on June 5 that the exams, criticized for being out of alignment with curriculum, will end 2014-15.
But students shouldn’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet.
Four new exams, also required for graduation, will be introduced, but many questions remain. The Nevada State Board of Education made some decisions Thursday, deciding that students who were freshmen, sophomores and juniors in 2012-13 must still take and pass the existing proficiency exams to graduate.
The rationale: It’s bad policy, perhaps illegal, to change students’ graduation requirements midway through high school.
“You end with what you start with; that’s the general rule,” said Stanley Rabinowitz, an education accountability consultant for Nevada.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/education/state-kills-high-school-exit-exams-no-help-years-seniors
The certificates of attendance, a consolation prize for almost-graduates like Wright, are also being discontinued.
As a result, Clark County’s 49 high school graduations will look smaller. About 1,000 Clark County seniors received the certificates instead of diplomas each year. They no longer will be allowed to take part in commencement, and they’ll receive nothing showing they met the credit requirements for a diploma but failed the proficiency tests.
Outside Clark County, only about 300 certificates of attendance are handed out annually to Nevada seniors.
“You either graduate or you don’t,” said Interim State Superintendent of Schools Rorie Fitzpatrick , describing how there will be no replacement for the certificate, which confuses students and parents by making them think they have graduated. “And they didn’t.”....
When the transition is complete, all high school students must pass two end-of-course exams in English language arts and two end-of-course exams in math designed to be in line with the recently adopted Common Core Standards.
“And the Common Core world is more rigorous than that of Nevada’s previous standards,” Rabinowitz said.
The way it was- proficiency testing was a waste of time and money.  Tests were giving 2-3 times a year and during these testing times, little teaching was going on, especially for those who had teachers who were giving the tests.
The money spent on writing, correcting and giving out results cost the state and school districts millions of dollars a year.  Hopefully, these costs will be reduced.
As far as students like Mr. Wright mentioned above, hopefully it will graduate more students, though it baffles me why he never passed the writing portion of the test, especially since he took the test at least 9 times or more, could have taken tutoring lessons and so forth.  The writing portion, in my own opinion, is probably the easiest test there is.

If You Like Roller Coasters, This Would Be For You

From the LVRJ: As Las Vegas turns to high-adrenaline rides to freshen its appeal to visitors, one developer has quietly started to move ahead with a roller coaster that would look down on all but one building on the Strip.
U.S. Thrill Rides LLC has submitted plans to the Federal Aviation Administration in April to build the 650-foot-tall Polercoaster, the company’s name for a scream machine that combines an observation tower with a coaster on the way up and down. Due to the height and location — a map with the application shows it at the Tropicana — the agency must assess any potential hazard posed to the planes flying in and out of nearby McCarran International Airport.
Because the FAA is still evaluating the project, critical pieces such as financing and a firm deal on the site still have not fallen into place.
However, U.S. Thrill Rides president Michael Kitchen said the company has already held discussions with banks willing to furnish loans for the Polercoaster, with an estimated cost approaching $100 million.
He declined to comment on the location. A spokeswoman for Tropicana did not comment.
“This will be the tallest roller coaster in the world,” he said. “Since Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, we think it will get higher visibility and foot traffic than other places.”
Windmere, Fla.-based U.S. Thrill Rides has built about 300 rides, many of them roller coasters for amusement parks. Company founder and CEO Bill Kitchen, Michael Kitchen’s father, said he conceived the Polercoaster idea as a way to add thrill ride to an existing destination that lacks much open land.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/business/tourism/full-scream-ahead-company-proposes-650-foot-tall-roller-coaster-strip
A roller coaster that goes up 65 floors would be kind of cool, if you like heights and roller coasters- not me, mind you, but it would be interesting to watch.
My guess is that it would run about $25 a ride.

TV Show "Tanked" Tanked In Applebee's Fish Tank Diaster

From the New York Daily News:
The new Applebee’s restaurant in Coney Island celebrates its grand opening Monday — and death is on the menu.
A Blacktip shark named Zane had to be removed Friday from the restaurant’s 5,000-gallon aquarium after devouring three Lookdown fish in a shocking killing spree.
That very same day, a Whitetip shark died after colliding with a three-foot Wonder Wheel replica in the tank, leaving employees shaken by the mayhem.
The sharks “were in shock. We moved them in too quickly,” said Applebee’s owner Zane Tankel, who saw the bloodthirsty $4,000 shark, his namesake, hauled to an aquarium in the aptly named Fishkill, N.Y. due to its poor table manners.
“They went from being in an ocean to being in a tank. They were all disoriented,” Tankel added.
The chaos was captured by a camera crew filming an episode of the reality show "Tanked" on Animal Planet.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/death-shark-tank-coney-article-1.1374327#ixzz2WWGQ86vB
And from The Brooklyn Daily Eagle:
As Coney Island continues its slow recovery from the damage Hurricane Sandy left behind nearly seven months ago, a national chain restaurant is getting set to open a franchise in the storm-torn community.
Apple-Metro, Inc., the company that owns Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants in the tri-state area, is opening a restaurant on June 17 on Surf Avenue between Stillwell Avenue and West 12th Street. It will be the company’s sixth Applebee’s restaurant in Brooklyn.
“We’re not opening just any Applebee’s. This one is going to be very special,” Zane Tankel, CEO of Apple-Metro Inc., told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. “In honor of the fact that Coney Island is right off the Atlantic Ocean, we’re putting in a giant fish tank. It’s so huge, it serves as a room divider,” he said.
The fish tank is 20 feet long and 10 feet wide. It contains 4,300 gallons of water. To create the fish tank, Applebee’s teamed up with Wayde King from Long Island and Brett Raymer from Brooklyn, co-owners of Las Vegas-based Acrylic Tank Manufacturing the stars of Animal Planet’s hit series http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/tanked “TANKED.” The tank will house sharks and other exotic specimens, Tankel saidhttp://www.brooklyneagle.com/articles/applebee%E2%80%99s-open-new-eatery-sandy-torn-coney-island-2013-05-16-201500
And this from Twitter: Applebee's New York@ApplebeesNY 14 Jun
The Fish are arriving! Can’t wait to see them in their new home. Thanks and !!!
So, were the "Tanked" people/crew involved with placing the fish in the tank too early because of a filming deadline?
Was it an honest mistake?
Did the owner order the fish in despite what the "Tanked" thought was best?
The tank certainly looks nice but building a tank is one thing but putting fish in it is another.
So, who screwed up that some expensive fish died?

Government Speak

From the Washington Post: President Obama has chosen a high-powered Washington lawyer with extensive government experience to be the State Department’s new special envoy for closing down the prison at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba.
Officials familiar with the decision said Clifford Sloan is the pick to reopen the State Department’s Office of Guantanamo Closure. The office was closed in January.   http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-names-clifford-sloan-to-lead-guantanamo-bay-closure/2013/06/16/a841100e-d6d3-11e2-8cbe-1bcbee06f8f8_story.html

Possessed Computer?

Something has gotten a hold of my computer.  With my old computer, I rarely had a problem with bugs and viruses and now, it seems it's a day to day problem.
These problems are irritating and I can deal with.
However, what freaks me out is that several times in the past 2 months, and in the middle of the night, music starts playing on the computer.  No music I ever have listened to and it's not a radio station.
Further, all my windows are closed, the Internet Explorer windows are closed and so my computer is basically shut down.  When the music is playing, no windows are opened.
So, to those computer guys out there, what's going on?
Is my computer possessed?
Is my computer being hacked by the government?
Someone playing games with my computer.
A virus or bug doing this?
Anybody have any ideas?

Obama: Do As I Say, Not As I Do

From the White House Dossier:
First Lady Michelle Obama is staying Monday evening in the $3,300-per-night Princess Grace suite of Dublin’s Five-Star Shelbourne Hotel, according to Irish press reports, adding some credence to accusations she is in the city for a quick vacation at taxpayer expense.
Michelle jetted to Dublin Monday afternoon Irish time after a brief stop in Belfast with President Obama, who is in the city for the two-day G-8 Summit.
The White House is billing Michelle’s trip to Dublin as having diplomatic significance, but her itinerary suggests otherwise. She and her daughters will visit the Trinity College library to explore President Obama’s Irish family roots, attend a performance by the world-famous Riverdance troupe, and visit the Wicklow Mountains national forest.
Judging by the tail number of her plane on the ground at Dublin Airport, it appears Air Force Two has been flown to Europe along with Air Force One and is being used to transport Michelle around....
According to press reports out of Ireland, 30 rooms have been booked in the hotel to accomodate Michelle and her entourage, which would presumably include various staff and a bevy of Secret Service agents.
The city will be plagued by traffic jams during Michelle’s visit, and according to one report, high school and university students are in danger of being late for final exams and are advised to allow for plenty of extra time for travel.
After visiting Dublin, Mrs. Obama and her daughters will join President Obama in Berlin for the second leg of his European trip.   http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2013/06/17/michelle-stay-3300anight-dublin-hotel-suite/
And this is just for Queen Michelle.  And the reason she can't stay with the President?  Oh wait, he may be having his fling with an Irish gal and Michelle would just be in the way.

Not Good Planning

From the Houston Chronicle:
A burglary suspect was shot by a homeowner in Spring early Sunday.
The homeowner, an agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, fired at the suspect when he entered his house to search for valuables, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect fled in a white car. Harris County Precinct 4 constables stopped the car near Kuykendahl and FM 1960.
The suspect was wounded in the arm and transported to the hospital in good condition.  http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/ATF-agent-shoots-would-be-robber-at-his-Spring-4603648.php
Rule #1 if you are going to rob a house: know who you are going to rip off.  If they a ATF agent, it's best to skip them and go to an old lady's house.

Obama's Chicago: 7 Dead, 46 Shot

Yep,. this is what happens when you allow Obamaites incharge.
From the Chicago Tribune:
As she headed out the door Sunday morning, Adrianne Wilberton put on a brave face. It was time to tell one of her sons the news, and she didn’t want him hearing it from anyone else.
But her composure unraveled as she walked toward the car, a barrage of neighbors hugging her on the way out of her apartment. By the time she reached the front lawn, the mother of six was in tears.
“Our son is dead! Oh Jesus!” the 57-year-old screamed, referring to her other son, Cortez, who was killed earlier that morning on Chicago’s West Side. “Oh my God! Oh my God! We were just talking.”
At least 33 people were shot — six of them fatally — Saturday afternoon through Father's Day Sunday, stretching from 94th Street and Loomis Avenue on the South Side up to about North Avenue and North Pulaski Road on the Northwest Side, according to authorities. The youngest person who was killed during one of the bloodiest weekends in Chicago this year was 16.
Shootings from Friday afternoon into Saturday left another 13 people shot, 1 fatally. The combined tally resulted in 46 people shot, and seven killed this weekend. Last year at about the same time, there were 53 people shot, nine fatally in one weekend.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-crime-shooting-gun-violence-marquette-park,0,2169540.story

Liberals Disappointed Again

From Fox News: A private jet that had former President George W. Bush on board made an emergency landing Saturday night.
The Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday that the jet was flying from Philadelphia to Dallas, where Bush lives. The FAA said the plane was diverted to Louisville, Ky., after the smell of smoke was reported in the cockpit. No one was hurt.
Bush spokesman Freddy Ford told The Associated Press on Sunday that after a brief stop, the plane continued to Dallas. Ford was on board and said he never saw or smelled smoke.

When the liberals  heard that W's plane was in troubled, they cheered and when it landed it safely, they booed.

Short Memories

From the Las Vegas Sun:
A massive fire in an apartment complex caused about $300,000 in damage and two minor injuries and forced the evacuation of about 50 people in what firefighters are calling the biggest fire of the year on Sunday morning.
The blaze was called in at 6:48 a.m. Sunday on the second floor of an apartment complex on N. 28th Street, near Eastern Avenue and U.S. 95, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said. The fire was extinguished several hours later, he said.

Apparently, the firefighters forgot about the Key Largo casino fire which destroyed the casino and caused about $4,500,00in damages.
From the Sun:
Clark County has ordered the vacant Key Largo casino near the Las Vegas Strip, which was gutted Thursday by a fire, be demolished by the end of April.
The abatement order, which was issued by Clark County Building Official Ron Lynn on Friday afternoon, places several requirements on the property’s owner, Flamingo 2005 LLC, including that the building be demolished by April 26.
The Thursday afternoon blaze caused $4.5 million to the building, located at 377 Flamingo Road, which has been abandoned since 2007.

Epic Fail: ESPN Broadcasting Golf Live

This week, ESPN tried to broadcast live the U.S. Open golf tournament like it was a baseball or football event.
Well, it failed.  They tried to combine baseball, football and hockey and turn it into a golf tournament.
Well, unless a golfer attacked another golfer or there was some major cheating going on, golf is just not a sport that you can broadcast live on the radio.
Broadcasting golf on the radio is about as exciting as listening to Pope Benedict reading all the Harry Potter novels live.

Man Robbed By Lawless Band Of Indians Dies

It's too bad that David Jin didn't make it to see if he would prevail against a band of thieving Indians.
From the LVRJ: A Las Vegas businessman who developed the Grand Canyon Skywalk glass bridge in northwestern Arizona and later became entangled in legal battles about it has died in Los Angeles, a company representative said Friday.
David Jin died Thursday at UCLA Medical Center after a four-year battle with cancer, Grand Canyon Skywalk Development spokesman David Weissman said. He was 51.
Jin’s death comes amid a continuing legal fight over his contractual rights to the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped, glass-bottomed walkway that has become the Hualapai Tribe’s premier tourist attraction.
An attorney for the development company said Jin’s family will continue to pursue Skywalk legal rights.
Jin, originally from Shanghai, moved to the U.S. in 1988 and operated Oriental Tours Inc. and Y-Travel LLC in Las Vegas.
He already was ferrying tourists 2½ hours from Las Vegas to the west rim of the Grand Canyon on the Hualapai reservation when he approached the tribe with an idea to build the Skywalk. It opened in 2007.....
Jin invested $30 million to build the Skywalk.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-and-west/grand-canyon-skywalk-developer-david-jin-dies-la
The Hualapi band of thieving Indians basically stole the Skywalk from Jin when they found out that it was being successful. And they did it without compensating him for it.  They took him to their kangaroo court where they won judgments against him and now Jin's family have to through the federal courts to get their money back plus the damages the thieves took from him.
RIP Mr. Jin, it's too bad you were taken and you put up a good fight but when you go against a bunch of thieves and fraudsters, there's not a lot you can do.

Something Still Doesn't Seem Right At Child Haven

Earlier this week, 5 kids walked away from Child Haven, a Clark County run institution for abused and neglected kids who have been removed from their families.
From the LVRJ: Child Haven has released few details, citing case confidentiality, about how the brothers and sisters left. Staff at the Clark County Department of Family Services-run facility say they followed policy by not blocking the children from leaving the property. The staff promptly called police when the children left.
Police are trying to figure out where the siblings went and how they got there. Investigators had no new information Thursday, spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.
Officer involvement with the family this time around has been “strictly from the missing persons standpoint” and not a criminal investigation, Meltzer said.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/crime-courts/parents-five-who-left-child-haven-have-earlier-child-neglect-convictions
From Channel 8 News: We had two staff members that saw them walk out the door," Sisolak said. "It's not that (they) were unnoticed, they were clearly noticed. I think that the system did work to that extent. They followed them out the building, they followed them down the street, one of the staff members went back, immediately called 911, Metro responded, the other staff member continued to follow them for a while and eventually turned back and came back to the facility."  http://www.8newsnow.com/story/22597601/child-haven-workers-followed-runaway-children
Steve Sisolak, maybe that's what they told you, but I say it's a lie or an exaggeration of the truth.
Child Haven is located next to the juvenile jail and Family Court.  Family Court has Marshalls and other security 24 hours a day.  The juvenile jail has numerous guards, with cops going in and out.  And this area of town, in which I am very familiar with, has cops all over the area because of the high crime rate.  There is no excuse for not having a police officer at Child Haven within a couple of minutes or less.
Further, why did the staff wait until the kids left child Haven before calling the police?  How about being pro-active and call them before they left the property?
When the kids left the building, especially with aged 7 and 9, why didn't anybody trail them and keep an eye on them while talking with the cops and staff back at Child Haven via a cell phone or radio.
If something bad happened to the kids, what would Clark County's response be?  We followed our rules so it is too bad that the kid ran out into the middle of the road and got hit by a car.  Or if a child was murdered or raped- Child Haven is not in a nice area and they didn't go to a nice area, what Clark County's excuse be?  Maybe they would use the Kathleen Sebelius excuse "Somebody lives, somebody dies".
Now that the kids know they can escape Child Haven without any problems, what is going to stop a teenager from leaving and going across the street to the apartments where there are numerous parties everyday.
There needs to be an investigation by the District Attorney or at least by the Clark County Commission to see what is going on there.
Finally, whatever agency is responsible for licensing Child Haven needs to conduct their own investigation, and if needed, pull their license.
And finally, again from Channel 8 News, Sisolak leaves us with this bunch of crap: "This was an orchestrated effort -- planned effort -- to get out of there and to run and get with an older sister, I guess, older family member, so I don't know how you're going to prevent that," Sisolak said.
You don't know how you prevent this from happening again?  Are you ignorant or just plain stupid, Sisolak?  You better find a way to prevent a 7 year old from running away or you should not be in the child care business.  If this happened at a private day care or foster home, the cops would be throwing the adults in jail and closing down the child care business or foster home.
This kind of situation cannot be repeated, but hey, we're from the government and we are here to help.

So Much For The Economy Recovery

From CNBC: U.S. oil prices rose to the highest level since September on Friday as tensions escalated between the U.S. and Syria.
WTI oil prices climbed more than a dollar to a session high of $98.25 a barrel, a level not reached since Sept. 17, 2012. Brent crude futures were up about $1.50 a barrel, reaching a session high of $106.64 a barrel, the highest price in over two months. Oil was trading slightly off the highs at midday.
Crude oil prices have been range-bound for more than a month until Thursday afternoon when it was reported that President Obama authorized shipment of U.S. weapons to Syrian rebels for the first time. The White House said it had proof that the Syrian government used chemical weapons against rebels. Oil prices extended their gains Friday morning.  http://www.cnbc.com/id/100816356
Once again, the Obama administration is sabotaging any kind of recovery of our economy by supply arms to Syria, even though the American people have not been calling for Americans giving the help.
Further, Obama with help of John McCain and other doofusses seems to be helping our enemy, Al Qaeda.  Apparently, Obama has forgotten that we are war with the terrorist muslim group.  This is a fight we should not be in, even if the "President" of Syria is a mean old son of a bitch with a hot wife.

And where are the liberals on this issue?  Where is Chucky Schummer, Crybaby/Senile/Coward Harry Reid?  Because bad news is always reported on Friday afternoons, even Obama is hoping to let this slip by and few people will notice.
Well, at least people will notice when the price of gas comes close to $4 a gallon again.
Once again, Obama's policies will hurt the poor the hardest.

RIP To Fred, Of Fred's Barbershop

It's been awhile since I have been to Fred's Barbershop, located near Nellis and Craig, in Las vegas.
Sadly, I learned, Fred passed away about a year ago.
Here is the write up I did about the shop:

Not Fred's, But Close
It is tougher and tougher to find a true barbershop in the world. In Las Vegas, I go to Fred's Barbershop, which is located by Craig and Nellis, about 25 miles from where I live.
Fred's is true barbershop where you get your hair cut basically 1 way- short. You'll can bitch and moan and the barber will listen and the best part is that this is not a hair salon. It has the old fashioned barber chairs.
Of course, after you leave, you will smell like a cigarette from the smokers. and if Fred knows you, may even get a free beer that is hid in the soda machine.
I'm trying to get my 11 year old son to go to a barbershop and hopefully, when he goes out on his own, he will choose a true barber over a hair salon.
But as long as I am alive, it's always going to be a barber shop instead of a salon.

http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/search?q=fred
Now, the place is cleaned up and it doesn't smell of cigarette smoke.
So, Fred, RIP, thanks for the memories, the cheap haircuts and breaking my son into going to a barbershop instead of a salon.

Most People Saw This Coming Except The Stupid

From the LVRJ: A China-based company’s plan to build a solar energy plant south of Laughlin and create hundreds jobs has died.
ENN Mojave Energy failed to obtain the necessary power purchase deal with any utility companies, Clark County officials said Friday.
The company informed the county that it was unable to meet the terms of the agreement.
ENN’s representatives persuaded county officials to approve the big land deal in December 2011 with promises of bringing economic development to the Laughlin area.
Commissioners had high hopes it would bring hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs and a billion-dollar solar farm and research park to Southern Nevada. Under the agreement, 9,000 acres in the Fort Mohave Valley were sold to the company for $4.5 million.
At the time, the company predicted the creation of 590 to 2,222 permanent jobs in its first five years of development, and another 462 to 2,944 construction jobs. Its investment would have ranged from $1 billion to $6 billion, according to the analysis the company provided commissioners.
In hopes of getting the economic boost, the county sold the land for under its appraised value. Two separate appraisals had pegged the land’s value at $29.6 million and $38.6 million.
But the agreement also hinged on the company’s ability to negotiate a power purchase agreement with a utility company within 18 months, which failed to come to pass. As a result, the land goes back to the county.
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., has pressured NV Energy to purchase power from ENN. In July 2012, he said the ENN project would start “tomorrow” if NV Energy did business with ENN.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/business/energy/plan-laughlin-solar-energy-plant-fizzles-clark-county-regains-control-land
This project is Coward/Liar/Senile Harry Reid's baby.  He had his son working on it.  He was the one who introduced the project and tried to pressure NV Energy into accepting poor rates while ENN would get a sweetheart deal.
The Clark County commissioners fell for this project without asking questions, like where would they get the financing and why near Laughlin when no one else wants to build there.  They also didn't take into account who was going to pay for all the infrastructure, extra police and fire and new schools.
Most people knew this was going to fail except for the liberals who dominate the Clark County commission and Senile Harry Reid.
We are better off for this plan failing, like many of the projects the Clark County and Harry Reid approve of.

Pawn Stars Review: June 13, 2013

It's been a hot week in Las Vegas, with highs close to 112F this past week but things have calmed down, where the highs are just around 100, about normal for this time of year.
Last week, apparently, Chumlee had a prank played on him on the show, but another, more sinister prank was played on Chumlee as we was said to be dead from a pot overdose.
From CP Entertainment: Chumlee of "Pawn Stars" has been the subject of an Internet death hoax this week.
Rumors of a marijuana overdose were reported this week, claiming that the reality TV star had died from an accident.
The rumors went viral with many of Chumlee's fans expressing their sadness and shock that he had died, and from a drug overdose at that. However, Chumlee soon stunned the fans even further when he took to his Twitter account, revealing that the rumors were simply a hoax and that he was alive and well.
There were a few days between the death rumors first starting and Chumlee debunking the rumors as a hoax, and in that time the news of his death had already spread far and wide.
"#not #dead #chumlee #magic #howto #selfie (sic)," Chumlee tweeted along with a Vine video.
Austin "Chumlee" Russell is one of the stars of Pawn Stars - an American reality television series, shown on History, and produced by Leftfield Pictures.

Pot overdose?  Seriously?

Antique vintage pocket watch DOXA, 1920s, perfectly working
On today's first episode, the first guy brought in a Swiss Doxa pocket watch.  On the outside of the watch had a hunting scene with a man on a horse, hunting a boar or pig.  http://www.doxawatches.com/
The guy wanted $500 and Rick offered $400 and then $450.  The guy went to $475 and that was the sale price.
In the story segments, it shows Corey working out in the warehouse with a trainer but the Old Man didn't like it too much.
The next guys brought in Rocky Marciano punching bags.  http://www.rockymarciano.net/home.htm
Rocy probably was one of the greatest boxers ever.
The punching bags weighed around 100 pounds and the guy had 2 bags.  The guy had some affidavits that Rocky used these bags, but some of the evidence was the seller's family.  The guy wanted $300,000 and the other $75,000.  Corey wanted an expert to come down to prove they were real.  Jeremy was the expert and he said he could not prove that the bags were Rocky's.
Corey didn't want to take a chance and there was no sale.

The next guy brought in Keystone slides.  http://monk.radford.edu/cdm/landingpage/collection/keystone
They were educational slides and were in business 1892 until 1972.
The guy had numerous pictures from around the world.  The guy wanted $17,000 and then $2-5 each or about $1365 and then $273 and then $50.  There was no sale.
In the end, they put up a punching bag in the warehouse and when the Old Man wanted to hit the punching bag, they put in a Bozo the clown punching bag for him to hit.
In the second episode, Corey brought in his dog to the store and promptly laid down some doggy pooh(the dog, not Corey)  It's a Bull dog named Skiva.

Nixon-Kennedy Lore Belies Record of Debates Failing to Turn Tide
The first guy brought in a wood carving of John F. Kennedy while he was at the first Nixon-Kennedy debate.
The carving shows Kennedy sitting down and was given to him and Kennedy replied with a letter from the U.S. Senate.
The guy wanted $2500 but Rick said the autograph was an autopen so it was no sale.

The next guy brought in a John Wayne Sword and used in the movie "Rio Grande".  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Grande_(film)
The guy got it from a prop store and had a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) .  The guy wanted $12,000.  Time for an expert, John Wayne's son, Ethan.
They called the writer of the COA and said the signature was real but the COA was fake.  There was no sale.
The story line was that Corey got a new motorcycle.  He got a Harley Davidson engine, called a knucklehead.  He like it and when he put it on it's kickstand, he dropped the bike on his side, causing some damage.  To me, it's kind of ugly.

eBay Image 1 RARE CIVIL WAR GLASS SYRINGE
The next lady, Dr. Dahlia, brought in a Civil War syringe and it was used for sexual transmitted diseases of men.  She wanted $300.  Rick offered $160 and that was the sale.
Maybe Corey's dog will become the new mascot of the shop, maybe replacing Chumlee.
That ends these two episodes of Pawn stars.  Two new ones next week.  Thanks for stopping by.

All In All, They Weren't That bad

Well, Joey Heck, son of Rep. Dr. Joe Heck is in trouble with social media.
He made some comments that a Repbulican politician son should not have made.
Some of the quotes actually quite funny: From the LVRJ): He also aimed at Mexican-Americans. Watching a New York Jets game in October, he tweeted that quarterback Mark Sanchez “can hop the border faster than he can throw the ball.”    http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics/hecks-son-inflammatory-twitter
Some were true:
At one point during the Oct. 16 debate, he tweeted: “Shut up Obama, you suck sit down.” And at another point he called Obama “you arrogant bitch.”
Heck also commented on matters before Congress, where his father serves on military and intelligence panels.
On Oct. 16, he tweeted: “Obama didn’t make the call to kill Osama....That was the intelligence committee #iwouldknow”
And some, I have no clue about: Joey Heck has made 3,196 tweets, but none since May 6. BuzzFeed said it reviewed his Twitter feed dating to August of last year and reported instances where he described homosexuals and black people in combustible terms.   ?????
But hey, because it was a GOP politician's kid, he get's called out on it.
If it were a son of a democrat, nothing would have happened and it would not be news.
But at least Dr. Rep. Heck is taking responsibility for his kids actions, unlike Senile/Liar/Coward Harry Reid, who has never taken responsibility for his or his family's actions.

Pawn Stars Review: Delayed

I don't know what is going with my computer safety, Cox Cable where I get my Internet service or maybe it is the government trying to shut me down, but my brand new computer is so full of bugs, worms and viruses that it would make a Robin or other bird extremely happy.
So, I will be trudging over to the henderson library tomorrow and write up the review and do other logging.
Thanks for understanding.

RIP: Jason Leffler

From ESPN: NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died after an accident Wednesday night in a heat race at a dirt car event at Bridgeport Speedway.
The 37-year-old Leffler, a two-time winner on the NASCAR Nationwide Series who had the nickname "LefTurn" above the driver's side window on his race cars, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. ET, New Jersey State Police said.
"NASCAR extends its thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the family of Jason Leffler who passed away earlier this evening," NASCAR said in a statement. "For more than a decade, Jason was a fierce competitor in our sport and he will be missed."
Bridgeport Speedway immediately suspended racing for the rest of the night after Leffler's accident at the 0.625-mile, high-banked dirt oval.
After losing his NASCAR ride, Leffler had been racing dirt car events most of this year, including the 410 Sprint Car race Wednesday that promised a $7,000 prize to the winner. On Sunday, Leffler finished last at Pocono in his lone NASCAR Sprint Cup start of the year. He ran just eight laps in a start-and-park ride.
From Long Beach, Calif., Leffler made 423 starts in NASCAR's three national series but won just the two Nationwide races and one Truck Series event in a career that began in 1999. He also made three IndyCar Series starts, finishing 17th in the 2000 Indianapolis 500.
A statement from Indianapolis Motor Speedway called Leffler "one of the most versatile race drivers in America, showing his talent by competing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during his career."
"He also displayed the skills that would help him reach the top levels of the sport by winning four USAC national series titles while winning on tracks throughout the Midwest," the statement said.  http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/story/_/id/9378864/nascar-driver-jason-leffler-dies-accident-dirt-car-event-bridgeport-speedway?autostart=false
He was one of my son's favorite drivers and he will be missed.
RIP to Jason, and prayers to his family, friends and fans.

Ann Coulter Is Right

From Ann Coulter.com: Democrats terrify Hispanics into thinking they'll be lynched if they vote for Republicans, and then turn around and taunt Republicans for not winning a majority of the Hispanic vote.
This line of attack has real resonance with our stupidest Republicans. (Proposed Republican primary targets: Sens. Kelly Ayotte, Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio.) Which explains why Republicans are devoting all their energy to slightly increasing their share of the Hispanic vote while alienating everyone else in America.
It must be fun for liberals to manipulate Republicans into focusing on hopeless causes. Why don't Democrats waste their time trying to win the votes of gun owners?
As journalist Steve Sailer recently pointed out, the Hispanic vote terrifying Republicans isn't that big. It actually declined in 2012. The Census Bureau finally released the real voter turnout numbers from the last election, and the Hispanic vote came in at only 8.4 percent of the electorate -- not the 10 percent claimed by the pro-amnesty crowd.
The sleeping giant of the last election wasn't Hispanics; it was elderly black women, terrified of media claims that Republicans were trying to suppress the black vote and determined to keep the first African-American president in the White House.
So, naturally, the Republican Party's entire battle plan going forward is to win slightly more votes from 8.4 percent of the electorate by giving them something they don't want.
As Byron York has shown, even if Mitt Romney had won 70 percent of the Hispanic vote, he still would have lost. No Republican presidential candidate in at least 50 years has won even half of the Hispanic vote.

In the presidential election immediately after Reagan signed an amnesty bill in 1986, the Republican share of the Hispanic vote actually declined from 37 percent to 30 percent -- and that was in a landslide election for the GOP. Combined, the two Bush presidents averaged 32.5 percent of the Hispanic vote -- and they have Hispanics in their family Christmas cards.
John McCain, the nation's leading amnesty proponent, won only 31 percent of the Hispanic vote, not much more than anti-amnesty Romney's 27 percent.
Amnesty is a gift to employers, not employees.
The (pro-amnesty) Pew Research Hispanic Center has produced poll after poll showing that Hispanics don't care about amnesty. In a poll last fall, Hispanic voters said they cared more about education, jobs and health care than immigration. They even care more about the federal budget deficit than immigration! (To put that in perspective, the next item on their list of concerns was "scratchy towels.")

http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2013-06-12.html
Most of American's are not clamoring for immigration reform- they are more interested in the economy, jobs, crime and maybe a white House scandal or two.
The only people who care about immigration reform are Democrats because they see a huge number of  new voters and loud mouth pro-illegal lovers who don't care about laws.
If the Republicans were smart, and they are not- just look at Dean Heller, they would go after the employers who hire illegals, throw out those who commit even the smallest crime- except maybe parking tickets, those who seek public benefits and those who seek free health care. (Stabilize them and send them home to recover).
It's really that simple.  We need fewer illegals, not more, which is what the GOP is trying to do.

Heller: RINO

From the LVRJ: Sen. Dean Heller said Wednesday he wants to vote for comprehensive immigration reform, and it doesn’t have to be perfect.
“I’m hoping at the end of the day there is more good in this bill than bad,” said Heller. “Nobody is going to get everything they want. But the goal is to get more good than bad in the legislation, and to support it.
“Some people want perfection, and we just don’t get it in these halls,” the Nevada Republican said in an interview outside the Senate chamber.
For Heller, who usually keeps his cards close, the remarks were the clearest he has given on his approach to far-reaching legislation that seeks to further button up security along the southern border, overhaul work systems for immigrants and open a path to citizenship to 11 million undocumented residents.
It comes on the heels of a meeting he convened in Las Vegas two weeks ago that was attended by dozens of activists and Hispanic officials in the state, including state Sen. Ruben Kihuen and state Senate Majority Leader Mo Denis, both D-Las Vegas, who took part by phone from Carson City.
Denis is in Washington this week and met with Heller on Tuesday.
“I needed to have this dialogue so that we know what people can live with and what they can’t live with,” Heller said. “So far so good. It’s going well.”
While he might be leaning in favor, Heller said he will not commit until he sees a final product.
“I want to vote for a bill, but I am not there yet,” Heller said. “The reason is there are going to be 300 amendments to this thing. Who knows what this thing is going to look like at the end of the day.”
Heller did not identify any potential show-stoppers among amendments that could be gleaned at this point. He said he plans to vote for an amendment by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, that would tie the “path to citizenship” to broader and tougher border security requirements.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/government/heller-says-hes-leaning-immigration-bill
Looks like Heller is becoming a sellout to whatever conservative values he has had.
If he thinks this will solve the nation's illegal immigration problems, he is wrong.  Even a co-sponsor of the bill, Marco Rubio won' support the bill as it is written.
It's turning out that Heller is one those country club Republicans who doesn't want to fight for what he believes in, if he believed in anything to begin with.

Someone Lives, Someone Dies Except For Sarah

Well, Obamaite Kathleen Sebelius, decided she was the god who decided who lived and who died.
Fortunately, the family of Sarah Murnaghan found a common sense judge who saw things differently and now Sarah is on her way to recovery after receiving a double lung transplant.
From the LVRJ: A 10-year-old girl whose efforts to qualify for an organ donation spurred public debate over how organs are allocated underwent a successful double-lung transplant on Wednesday, the girl’s family said.
Sarah Murnaghan, who suffers from severe cystic fibrosis, received new lungs from an adult donor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, spokeswoman Tracy Simon said.
The Murnaghan family said it was “thrilled” to share the news that Sarah was out of surgery.
“Her doctors are very pleased with both her progress during the procedure and her prognosis for recovery,” the family said in a statement.
During double-lung transplants, surgeons must open up the patient’s chest. Complications can include rejection of the new lungs and infection.
Sarah went into surgery around 11 a.m. Wednesday, and the procedure lasted about six hours, her family said.
“The surgeons had no challenges resizing and transplanting the donor lungs - the surgery went smoothly, and Sarah did extremely well,” it said. “She is in the process of getting settled in the ICU and now her recovery begins. We expect it will be a long road, but we’re not going for easy, we’re going for possible.”
Sarah’s family and the family of another cystic fibrosis patient at the same hospital challenged transplant policy that made children under 12 wait for pediatric lungs to become available or be offered lungs donated by adults only after adolescents and adults on the waiting list had been considered. They said pediatric lungs are rarely donated.
Sarah’s aunt, Sharon Ruddock, said the donor lungs came in through normal channels as a result of being on the adult donor list.
“It was a direct result of the ruling that allowed her to be put on the adult list,” Ruddock said. “It was not pediatric lungs, she would have never gotten these lungs otherwise.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/life/health/pennsylvania-girls-double-lung-transplant-deemed-success
There are guarantees that Sarah will survive the transplant, just like there is no guarantee that an adult will survive.
One of the jobs I had when going through school was a lab runner at the U.W. Hospital and Clinics in Madison.  While the job certainly didn't make any kind of expert on medical school, I did learn a lot about transplants by talking to people who had undergone transplants or about to get a transplant.
Sarah will have a long road ahead of her, having to take a cocktail of medications for the rest of her life and she will always have the fear the lungs will suddenly stop working and she will go into respiratory failure, but at least she has a good chance to live a decade or longer instead of dying next week.
So, in the end, the Obama administration was wrong... again.  They could have changed the rules but chose not.  They chose death for the little girl and fortunately, a judge saw it differently  and now the Sarah has a chance for a do over in life.

Democrats Behaving Badly In Wisconsin....Again

From The Madison Capital Times: During a lively post-debate roll call on a bill requiring ultrasounds before abortions, Republican Senate President Mike Ellis got so worked up and banged his gavel so forcefully and often that he broke the base. He shouted at Democrats: "You're interrupting a roll call and that will not be tolerated, sit down!"
The bill passed 17-15 on a party-line vote with Republicans in favor. The bill now goes to the Assembly, which is expected to pass it. Gov. Scott Walker has said he will sign the bill if it reaches his desk.

As usual, the Democrats had to resort to yelling and crying because they were not getting their way.

Cool

From the LVRJ: Is it a bike? Is it a plane?Three Czech companies have teamed up to make a prototype of an electric bicycle that successfully took off Wednesday inside an exhibition hall in Prague and landed safely after a remote-controlled, five-minute flight.
Looking like a heavy mountain bike, it weighs 95 kilograms (209 pounds). It has two battery-power propellers in the front, two in the back and one each on the sides.
A dummy rode in the saddle.

Bill Maher is supposed to be some kind of comedian but is not funny except to liberals and he does some kind of news show that is not accurate nor funny.
Well, Maher is also a stand up comedian who also shows no class.
From Norm and the LVRJ: Former Las Vegas TV personality Ron Futrell was escorted out of liberal comedian Bill Maher’s show at the Palms on Saturday after a heckling incident.
Futrell, an outspoken conservative known for his Twitter rants, told the Review-Journal he was offended that Maher mocked special- needs individuals by using the “r word” against Sarah Palin’s special-needs son.
“I’ve got a son with special needs,” Futrell said. “It didn’t surprise me that Maher said it. It surprised me that a lot of people laughed at that joke.”
Futrell said he moved down from his original seats in The Pearl concert venue to “about the 50th row” to engage Maher.
Futrell, a former sports anchor and daytime anchor at ABC affiliate KTNV-TV, Channel 13, before he was fired in 2008, chided Maher for a joke about Halliburton, the oil field services giant.
“Halliburton? It’s 2013,” Futrell said several times, until he got Maher’s attention.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/columns-blogs/norm-clarke/ex-sports-anchor-chides-bill-maher
Seriously, why would a comedian have to resort to picking on a Down Syndrome child and use the word "Retard" and who in their right mind would think that's funny.  If you have to resort to stooping down to that level, you are not a funny person, but just a pathetic ass hole.
And if you are still bringing up Haliburton (and Palin), they are yesterday day's news (actually yesteryears), it shows your material has not evolved to 2013.
Bill Maher: Just a pathetic human being.

Gas, Milk Prices, Poor Hurt The Most

Recently, gas prices in the Las Vegas area have risen about 10 cents above what they were for Memorial Day.  Why?
Milk prices have risen about 10 cents a gallon as well.  Why?
Of course, the poor are hurt the most.
Thanks, Obama.

Well, This Explains Walgreens Bizarre Behavior

Well, this explains why Walgreens won't act in your best interest-
From the Denver Post: Federal authorities have reached a record $80 million settlement with the Walgreens pharmacy chain over rules violations that poured a flood of powerful painkillers into the hands of drug addicts and dealers in Florida, Colorado and other states, officials said Tuesday.
Mark R. Trouville, chief of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Miami field office, said Walgreens committed numerous record-keeping and dispensing violations of the Controlled Substances Act at a major East Coast distribution center in Jupiter, Fla., and at six retail pharmacies around the state. The drugs included oxycodone, hydrocodone and Xanax.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado and the DEA's Denver Field Division participated in the investigation, which led to a settlement that resolves similar allegations against Walgreens retail pharmacies in Colorado, Michigan and New York
The Colorado U.S. Attorney's Office along with DEA's Denver Field Division identified more than 1,600 violations of the Controlled Substances Act at Walgreens stores located in Colorado.
Most of these violations were found at Walgreens stores in Cañon City and Pueblo.
Authorities said the Jupiter center failed to flag suspicious orders of drugs it received from pharmacies, and the retail outlets routinely filled prescriptions that clearly were not for a legitimate medical use. The upshot was many more doses of prescription drugs were available illegally on the street.

What a bunch of crap.  Who is the DEA to determine which is the right amount for patients and the right amount for legitimate use.
As we have seen now with the IRS, NSA and other federal agencies, they make things up as they go along and the Feds have no clue what they are talking about.
But it explains why Walgreens is no longer a good pharmacy to go to:
This week has been frustrating for a relative of mine who is need of pain medication here in Clark County.  The medication is needed for a chronic back injury that was the result of a screwed up back surgery.  The injury is confirmed by x-rays, MRI's and other tests.
They were prescribed Oxycodone 10mg along with another medication.
They dropped the prescription off at the Walgreens at Lake Mead and Boulder Highway in Henderson.
They were told the medication would be available the next day.
They then got a phone call from the pharmacist stating she would not fill the prescription.  They did not say why.
The next day, I went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription from the Walgreens and I started to ask questions.
I asked the pharmacist on duty and who did not deny my relative the medication she needed.
She stated that Walgreens has guidelines in which they determine if the amount medication prescribed is appropriate.  I asked the pharmacist if that means that are overruling what a doctor prescribed and if that means they more about the patient and their needs than Walgreens.  She had no answer.  I asked if they had contacted the doctor that prescribed the medication and said they had and the doctor said the prescriptions were legitimate.
She stated that Walgreens demands of each doctor that prescribes any kind of narcotic medication give them, Walgreens, all of the patient's medical history. Of course, this violates HIPPA laws about patient privacy.
They then said that the prescription that my relative presented violated Walgreens guidelines in prescribing medication.

If you have a prescription to be filled, you really don't want it filled it at Walgreens because they will share it with the Feds and the HIPPA law be damned.  Just like Verizon, internet and phone records that are shared with the Fed's..

Obama's Tangled Web

Interesting story about corruption in Cook County, home to President Obama: A former south suburban police chief is expected to plead guilty to diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars from a state job-training grant to friends and family, her attorney said Tuesday as more charges were filed in the case.
Regina Evans, a former Chicago police lieutenant and Country Club Hills chief, has been in custody since mid-March, when authorities charged her with trying to coax an associate into lying to the grand jury.
"She is planning on accepting responsibility for what she did. She wants to put this behind her," said Evans' attorney, Lawrence Beaumont. "She is a good person. She spent a lot of years working for the community."
The state grant at issue came to Evans' nonprofit We Are Our Brothers Keeper while she was police chief and after she and her husband had spent several years running entertainment and transportation businesses in the south suburbs.
The $1.25 million was supposed to be used to train dozens of minorities and women for good-paying construction jobs.
But soon the state started asking questions about where the money was going. Last year the federal government leveled fraud charges against Evans and her husband, Ronald, after they had left their jobs in Country Club Hills. Ronald Evans was inspector general of the suburb.
Prosecutors say the Evanses used about $500,000 from the grant to pay friends and relatives and to cover the mortgage on the landmark New Regal Theater on Chicago's South Side, a venue they were trying to rehab.
In April, prosecutors charged Regina Evans' friend Jeri Wright and accused her of helping Evans to convert cash from the grant to personal use through paychecks. Wright is the daughter of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., President Barack Obama's former pastor.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-country-clubs-hills-charges-20130612,0,353096.story
Hell, even the run of the mill scandals in the Chicago area has close ties to Obama.

Obama's Chicago: 8 More Shot

For those keeping track at home, 2 days, 20 shot, including 8 today.
From the Chicago Tribune: A 35-year-old man was killed and at least eight people were injured in shootings across the city that started Tuesday evening and continued into this morning, according to police.
About 10 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot multiple times after an argument in the 900 block of North Long Avenue, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man fled partway down the street before collapsing, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
In the most recent shooting, a man standing with a group of people was shot multiple times in the 3300 block of West 60th Street, Greer said.
Moments before the shooting, a black Ford Taurus pulled up and someone stepped out and yelled gang gang slogans, Greer said. The group of people standing outside responded with gang slogans, and the newcomer who had stepped out of the Taurus opened fire, striking the man, according to police.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-shootings-overnight-crime-violence-20130611,0,501129.story
20 shot on  Monday AND Tuesday.  Can't wait to see what the numbers are the rest of the week.

How The Hell Does This Happen?

From the Las Vegas Sun: Metro Police are searching for five juvenile siblings who went missing Tuesday afternoon.
The children ran away from Child Haven, a child care center, about 2 p.m. and knocked on a woman’s door next to the care center near Pecos and Bonanza roads, police said. The two boys and three girls, ranging in age from 7 to 14 years old, then asked the woman for a ride to an estranged relative’s home police believe to be that of their older sister on Cheyenne Road and Rainbow Boulevard.
The woman, who did not know the children had run away, dropped the children off at the intersection. The siblings were last seen at Cheyenne and Rainbow about 4 p.m.
The runaway children have been identified as Demetri Nicholas, 7, Sarah Nicholas, 9, Luchiano Nicholas, 11, Violet Bimbo-Nicholas, 13, and 14-year-old Savanna Nicholas.

Child Haven is a secure facility and there is no way they could have just walked out of Child Haven, especially a 7 year old.
This is a government facility and obviously someone(s) screwed up big time.
The County is liable for their well being and they just let 5 kids wander away, go in a stranger's and go who knows where.
There needs to be a State and possible Federal investigation into this and people need to be fired or arrested.

Spanked, Spurs Beat Heat Big Time

VINTAGE SPANKING PHOTOS & ART: 3272695484_981e0b099f_o.jpg
From ESPN: Danny Green and Gary Neal aren't NBA royalty like LeBron James.
Either undrafted or unwanted, they once were more likely to be found playing in summer league or some other country than against the mighty Miami Heat.
On Tuesday, they led the San Antonio Spurs to one of the biggest blowouts in NBA Finals history.
Green made seven of the Spurs' Finals-record 16 3-pointers, Tim Duncan had 12 points and 14 rebounds, and the Spurs clobbered the Heat 113-77 on Tuesday night to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Green scored 27 points and Neal made six 3-pointers while scoring 24 as San Antonio went 16-of-32 from behind the arc, rolling to the third-biggest victory in Finals history.
"Those guys shot incredibly," Duncan said. "Gave us the breathing room when we needed it."
Neal could be even more important going forward, after starting point guard Tony Parker revealed fresh concerns about his sore hamstring. He plans to get an MRI on Wednesday.
Duncan bounced back from his worst game ever in the Finals, and the Spurs' combination of fresh faces and old reliables dominated the NBA's winningest team before an eager crowd that hadn't seen the Finals here since 2007.
"It shouldn't be a surprise," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "These are the last two teams standing. I don't think either one of them is going to get down if they have a bad night."
The Spurs were as good as fans remembered in the old days, shutting down James until they had built a huge lead late in the third quarter.
James finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds but missed 11 of his first 13 shots against the excellent defense of Kawhi Leonard, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
"Honestly, I just have to play better," James said. "I can't have a performance like tonight and expect to win."
Game 4 is Thursday in San Antonio, where the Heat are 3-22 in the regular season and so far zero wins and one really bad beating in the postseason.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=400467335&autostart=false
I predict whoever wins game 4 will win the series.
I also predict I will never again look for a spanking photo.  All I can say is "ewwww".
